Nature, heals all!

My mind a blank slate,

My heart, a placid state,

I wake up, at the break of dawn,

The pillows still damp, I gently tip-toe…

The sound of the ocean beckons,

A  drizzle; my drowsy eye awakens,

The waves rising, falling, and rise again-

I stand still, in awe, at the shores…

The sky, the waters, mountains, a hundred shades of grey,

“A thousand hues more,  shall unfold, some other day,”

“When you are  ready!” – She says, unruffled, unflustered,  –

I close my eyes and breathe; spray, salt, petrichor …

A glow, mellow, distant, makes it’s way,

A dog saunters, a bird soars… follows the first ray,

High, high it goes, restores my sunken spirits-

My eyes open now; I gaze, roused, enlivened…

Oh Mother Nature! I’ll fall yet again, I am aware,

Like the waning moon, to rise again , I will dare,

There shall be cheers and there shall be tears-

To Thee, I promise, to fight my deepest fears.

Thanks for your tactful way of congratulating me on NOT wanting to be a poet! 🙂 I’ll leave that to you better qualified emotional wordsmiths!

I am not sure about the better qualified but emotional wordsmith is true. Am going to have a favorite BYOB of poems too :). Hope you enjoy reading them.

Beautiful! I can feel myself undulating with the meter and cadence of the poem, rising and falling with the motion of the waves as they rock me gently. I can sense the peace break over my soul as I read these sentences that emulate the wave-like motion so well.

I am always in such awe when a poem works this well. I am often able to give my writing a lyrical quality, but I can never give my writing the disciplined structure that is quality poetry.

The closest I ever came to even a marginally decent poem was in a piece I wrote for a challenge called “The Moon Ate the Dark”:

Thanks for sharing this poem with me. I loved it. I wish I could give it 5 stars instead of just the single star of a “Like”.

I did read your poem and yes😊…it’s unique in it’s own way. Your prose reads like poetry. This is something someone commented on one of my posts. I felt the same when I read your comment on my poem. Thank you. The most satisfying moment is when the reader is able to feel the poetry and I must thank you for sharing your feedback on the poem.
Like everything else, I guess poetry comes with practise. My best poems were when I took part in the NaPoWriMo challenge. I hated it at the end of it but the pressure worked well.
Thank you again for the 5 stars. Received it😊
