NaPoWriMO : Day 4 : The Enigma of a Legend

As part of the NaPoWriMo Challenge for Day 4, we have to write a poem with a secret- “in other words a poem with a word or idea or line that isn’t expressing directly. The poem should function as a riddle and could closely describe a famous location or person without ever mentioning what or who it actually is”.

Here is what I have written-

Eyes blue,

Blonde lashes too,

Auburn hair,

Skin    fair!

Second name  Franz,

Comes from the land of Hanz,

Dropped out of school at sixteen,

Took the world by storm at seventeen!

Nicknamed “Boom Boom”,

Over the opponent he did loom,

Also called “The Lion of Leimen”,

On the court, he was the Demon!

Charismatic and bodacious,

Energetic and tenacious,

Holds the title of the youngest ever,

Which to break, many did endeavor.

Ranked No. 1, in 1991

Retired at just 31,

Father of two plus one,

Had once a wife, now none.

Player turned commentator,

Coach and entrepreneur,

Any guesses, who it is?

Question is open to adults and kids!
