NaPoWriMo: Day 12 – Peas in a Pod

Today’s National Poetry Writing Challenge was to write a poem that explicitly incorporates alliteration (the use of repeated consonant sounds) and assonance (the use of repeated vowel sounds).

On a lighter note today, as compared to Day 11’s poem, here it is:

I silently sneak into the room,

A quick peak at my budding blooms,

To watch them, dream away and smile, so angelically,

To the soothing sound of a sweet, Spanish symphony,

Their countenance, soft and serene,

Tugs at the heart, an enchanting and engaging scene,

After a day’s frolic and fun, now they repose restfully,

Their breathing slow, making a harmonious rhapsody.

Each distinctly different, yet subtly the same,

Contrasting as night and day, sleeping, they looked- oh, so tame,

Their striking silhouette, in the mellow moonlit night ,

Stirring slightly, they curled, such a charming and  bewitching sight,

One’s tender, cream skin peeped out of the warm woolen quilt above,

And the other’s little chocolaty toe pushed it’s way below,

One strong and athletic, the other dainty and petite,

Unique and special in their very own ways, a blessed, divine treat.

The window slightly ajar, lets in the wintry wind,

Blowing their untied tresses over their satiny skin; I leaned,

Lightly over their tiny frames, to move the bouncy, brown curls away,

From one; and the silk-smooth strands from the other as she lay,

Poles apart in every way, at this young age, I see,

Each with a destiny of her own, Peas in a Pod, they’ll forever be.
