NaPoWriMo : Day 15 – JOB -It’s Either Done or Not! What’s Half-Done?

Today being the 15th, half-way through the NaPoWriMo Challenge, the prompt was to write poetry that reflects on the nature of being in the middle of something. The poem could be about being on a journey and stopping for a break or the gap between something half- done and all-done.

Here’s mine for Day 15 of the National Poetry Writing Challenge.  A job’s either done or not. Half-done is “Incomplete”.

done

A job half-done is better than none, so they say,

Optimism, a silver lining, when all around is gray,

A job well begun is a job half done, so they say,

A step to achieve, so failure can be kept at bay.

A job half- done is better than none, ‘Tis true in a way,

For they who know ” Rome, wasn’t built in a day”,

If there be a will to complete the other half,

Else, the half done ‘aint better than chaff.

A job half- done is a job undone, I’d say,

A fool’s paradise, in a way,

Quite rightly so when not much be expected,

And the bar be lowered and mediocrity accommodated.

No medal won, for a race half-run,

No freedom, No invention, No success under the sun,

No goal be accomplished, No progress made,

For a job half done, is as good as none!
