Carpe Diem #1328 Along the Road…Don’t lose the child in You

The quote for today based on which a Haiku had to be written, reminded me of this picture I had taken a long time ago.

The quote for today has a strong connection with “being a child as an adult”.© Chèvrefeuille

 

I saw a Myna,
“One for Sorrow…”, lone it called,
Past it I walked, calm,
It flew ahead, made me turn,
“Two for joy!”. That made me smile…

Writing this haiku brought back memories of the old nursery rhyme ” One for sorrow”, which was based on Magpies. However, when one lives in the tropics, one knows the rhyme but says it on spotting Mynas; at-least that’s how it was back in the eighties. It’s become a habit for me now. If I ever spot one Myna alone, I instinctively look out for the second one to make sure I have good luck :). If this makes me a child, so be it!

    Hahaha! You’re not alone, I’m from the 90s but I’ve skillfully carried forward this tradition of immediately looking for another one lest it’d bring me a bad day and two, a joyful, lucky day!
    I loved this work particularly because it’s beautiful and so happy. It’s important to keep the child alive and see the beautiful, happy side of life♥️

      I’m happy it made you smile😊 and brought back fond memories. It’s easy to be cynical and lose the child in us but we must remind ourselves to let go and keep it alive. It’s nice to know it wasn’t out of fashion in the nineties too. Now we’ve made a connection😊
      The posts you checked were on the sadder side. But there are a lot more happier ones that I’ve written which I hope you do enjoy reading. Xxx

        You’re so right once again my friend, I try to keep it alive, I’m trying more each day! 90s was still on the old school side, it’s morphed into something else now! Anyway, yes I will read your older posts, wouldn’t want to miss them. Keep writing ♥️😃

    I do that too, still! And why not. You brought back fond memories of the days we used to keep our fingers crossed until we found a second black crow (as you see Bangalore had more crows than mynas)

            OMG! Really? I remember reading in one of your posts about a bank that your dad and you visited and you have clearly mentioned a school there and it seemed like Cottons to me. High five twice 🙂 It is a small small world.
