How long must I wait before I return…

To all those who’ve been following my blog, you are aware that 2018 has been keeping me on my toes and I haven’t felt the urge to write, so much so it had me worried. And then I saw this picture taken by my father-in-law of the mango tree in the garden and it made my heart beat again.

This picture of the mango tree in full bloom, brought back feelings that were buried under the pressures of daily life and filled me with a deep sense of longing; a longing to return.

I’m not sure if that feeling came from seeing the comforting shadows cast by the leaves above or the wrought, iron gates that open to a world of love and warmth or if it’s the sight of the curved drive that leads up-to a place I now call home.

How much longer must I wait,

Before I walk in through that gate-

How much longer must I run?

How many hurdles and battles must be won-

When, Oh When can I return?

‘Neath those boughs to bask, how much more must I churn…

Now when I see the end is near,

Why this haunting sense of dread, a gnawing sense of fear,

Why does my step falter and my spirit waver-

Will Luck not do this tired soul a favor?

A wave of impatience sweeps,

A sense of stifled urgency, creeps…

“Stop!” says the heart “You must be stronger”,

“You must hang on, Just a while longer”,

The unbridled mind, it does wander,

Harness it I must or watch it squander,

For that home I left behind, my soul does yearn,

“You must not give in. You must not listen. You must be stern”.

The whistling of the wind, a dream-a soft, sweet, melody,

‘Midst the rustling of leaves, sings my heart’s rhapsody,

In those dancing shadows, I long to rest,

But not now, not for a while, not before I have given my best…

For now I must go on,

For a race must be run until it is done…

And a battle begun must be won!

And a battle begun must be won!

😊yes home sweet home…there are no other words. Sometimes, you see a picture and you miss the place so much. Well, that’s what happened to me.

Those emotions paint the beauty of that poem.

That tree and that gate look so welcoming, it’s no wonder that I can sense the yearning in your words – but I can sense the strength too, knowing that the return will be that much sweeter when you have journeyed where you must.

Yes…the joy of returning after the completion of the purpose for which one stayed away is all the more sweeter. Gates that lead to a home filled with love always evoke a million emotions. It’s so nice to know you can feel those emotions through the words. Thank you Andrea.xxx

2017 was the entire year I suffered through severe writer’s block, so I understand what you’re going through but I think you’re still doing great. The poem in this one, the humour and lessons in the previous post, all prove that you’re still the star♥️ ps – the tree made me miss my granny’s place too, it speaks of memories in a reader’s mind. I hope you’re better now. Take care my friend. Xoxo

Thanks Ms. Positivity❤. Trust you to be encouraging. It can be a difficult thing for writers’ when they go through a period where words play truant and just will not come. I wish you loads of writing in 2018 Vageesha. I am feeling much better now, thanks😊. Sometimes, just something as simple as a tree can bring back such powerful feelings…like you thinking of your granny’s place. Hugs to you my dear.

A really lovely poem, Smitha. Glad to see you are writing again. I also have times when I don’t feel inspired to write a poem and then a whole lot come into my head at once.

Thank you so much Robbie. Just can’t seem to find the time, the energy or the words. I’m so glad I was finally able to break the spell. I hope I will be able to write more. Thanks again for your understanding and encouragement.❤
