Now the this last year’s appraisals are done and the results are out and the bonus has been credited to the account :), I take the liberty of re-posting this write-up written in 2016. Am sure, everybody who works has had one such experience in their life-time. Hope you enjoy reading it!

Hm.. I wonder which one am I.. I’d like to be known as a cream performer, but I guess I’m a consistent performer. In this economy, I am super grateful for my job and don’t want to rock the boat. Eeeep. Great post Smitha.

Whattay a relatable post. I have to give it to you for crafting such a genius piece with perfect accuracy and humour too. I lost it at, “I put up with you!” Hahahahah!
The boss’s typical dialogues, “sword dangling above our head, hands are tied, can’t promise anything!” Because obviously it’s the “yes, boss, nice boss, oh you’re amazing boss,” kind of people who are going to get it irrespective of the fact that they slack, don’t know much shit about what their job is but come networking, voila such experts. The last line stole the show, I’m making a resume!😂😂😂😂-

Was a surprised that you could relate to this post. You seem to be totally aware of how the corporate world works. :). The truth is if you can’t network, then you must work doubly hard as you have only your work to speak for you. If you do, then it’s not that bad at all. People and bosses will love you.

Hahaha! I do give that impression to people. Yes exactly networking takes the cake every time. And I have always been a workaholic. I like to do my work properly be it anything, so that is why I anyway put in twice as much as anyway but a lot of times I haven’t gotten recognition because I just run away from social interactions! WP is different, but face to face I’m a total introvert, will not do it unless it becomes imperative. Then I’d do it properly but I’d keep looking for ways to leave! And after social interactions, I need to recharge myself😂😂-
I so agree with you. A genuine comment is worth a million likes and no comments. It’s good to know you’re a workaholic. Totally understand about being an introvert. I’m sure you’ll be able to relate to this post I had written in 2016 https://lifeateacher.wordpress.com/2016/09/03/introvert-or-extrovert-dogma-debunked/. You’re not alone in how you feel. Yet, you’ll be happy to know that introverts are great at a lot of stuff like being creative, making presentations. Sooner or later people do notice the difference that introverts make to an organisation. So, just keep going, believe in yourself and speak up when required… and I’m sure you will be recognized. This is coming from a veteran introvert 🙂

Thank you for the link. I will read that soon. Actually, getting appreciation and recognition is not the problem because when you’re working hard and good, the people start relying on you and hence you get noticed, loved and complimented but there is a dark side of work sphere which I hate. You’d be admired, considered very important for the organization but since you can’t network, someone very less disserving gets the appraisal or promotion in the first go. But I will keep in mind your points. Thank you so much my friend 😘♥️

Totally agree with you Vageesha. Where the dark side threatens to stifle you, you must not give in without a fight. I am sure you must be an amazing team member, employee and the organization and customers definitely benefit from the likes of you.
