NaPoWriMo 2018: Day 28- A Postcard Poem: Wish you were here…

Today, we bring you a new craft resource, in the form of this history and exploration of the prose poem. This essay helpfully catalogs several different styles of prose poem, with examples, and possible strategies for writing.

And now for our prompt (optional, as always). Following the suggestion of our craft resource, we challenge you today to draft a prose poem in the form/style of a postcard. If you need some inspiration, why not check out some images of vintage postcards? I’m particularly fond of this one.

My Prose poem on a postcard

postcard poem 123a

The Poem itself, if the above is unreadable…

We went to see the Eiffel Tower yesterday. It wasn’t at all like what I expected,  not half as romantic. Maybe it was the heat, the crowd or managing the pick-pockets that got to me.In fact, Anne thought it was the most boring looking tower and the one near Nana’s home was so much better. It took us three hours to get to the top but it was worth the wait. Riya clicked a lot of pictures. She said she didn’t want daddy to miss out on  anything. We went on a dinner cruise on the Seine river last evening. It was ethereal-seeing the tower lit up against the black sky. It didn’t look cold and boring any more but seemed warm and so romantic. I wished so much you were here with us. Miss you loads… Love,

postcard

I remember wondering too if the tower was over romanticized, however, high up, it did feel wonderful – romantic even and then when it lit up, that was a different story altogether – one that we least expected. May be the Eiffel does that to everyone.

Ah yes… The Eiffel is truly romantic at night. That’s not an exaggeration. Day time its a rusty old tower especially for those of us who are used to the shine and glitterati of U.A.E

Cannot agree more! UAE and its glittering glamour is a sight to behold.

A little suggestion from your Casper you could keep it in old days form…mentioning Dubai seems to me glitch in a beautiful harmony that catch the ears…hope you will not mind and understand what I wanted to say…

😊 accepted. In fact suggestion appreciated. Will just remove the city what say? Can’t think of any other city to write.

Casper hi😊. Dubai’s gone now. Please see if it’s better. If not, just tell me ” where” the tower is better😊. Thank you so, so much. Totally understood where you came from. And am so glad you told me.
