The Courage to start from Scratch

New Beginnings Quotes www.mostphrases.blogspot.be

The years gone by,
I reminisce blissful, with a sigh-
Every stage a new beginning, unprecedented, unfamiliar,
Grit and fortitude denounced trepidation and fear
Hurdles crossed, failures met, fingers burnt,
I toiled and toiled. I did not rest; I watched, I learnt,
And Success- Oh! She came; sweet and sure
Wrapped me up, snug and secure
She and I, we grew fond of each other,
Seemed the perfect ending, this life we made together.

But the road ahead had a bend
The journey I loved came to an end
New beginnings now stared me in the eye
My heart with dread filled, held me captive; I will not lie
I stood at cross-roads, on the brink –
Of what was and what may be; I saw her wink.
She walked away. She doesn’t tread a course unknown.
On the untraversed path I must now forge alone.
She will return one day. I know she will.
I’ve wooed her before. I know the drill.

I read this one twice. A second time to absorb the weight of those words that comprehend your feelings. Being a boring person who craves monotony in every aspect of life, I can totally relate to this one. Success can dress herself up in many a form, but she can test your will and patience as you say, ‘She doesn’t tread a course unknown.’ Sending in prayers that it surely will. and lots of good wishes and hugs!

Thank you so much Pranitha. Need those prayers, good wishes and hugs as I embark on this new journey. This poem was a reminder to me, not to break or give up before difficult, testing situations. Hugs to you too.

It is your anxiety of the unknown that worries you. You will be surprised when you embrace it with a zeal and strength that you might not have known that you possess. Hugs!

A befitting end to the AtoZ Challenge a brilliant series I must say. Look forward to what you come up with next! All the very best for your future writings but I can say with confidence you have nothing to worry about. But I will also say this, a bit of worry is always good – keeps you on your toes 😉

This poem was written for a competition titled New Beginnings, Dahlia and it won a prize. Thank you so much for the wishes because writers’ block is something that I constantly go through. Like you, I believe worrying is essential so you don’t become complacent and try and improve. At the same time courage is essential, not to give up because giving up is the easiest choice. All the best to you too, my dear. ☺

An interesting reflection on life’s journey, Smitha. How are you settling to life at home? It can be a bit of a difficult transition but it is very worthwhile.

Thanks Robbie. True…sometimes I’m on the top of it all and sometimes I feel a little lost. That I know is not a good thing. But yes its worthwhile. Have sent you a request on fb

Hi Smitha, I enjoyed this poem full of the ups and downs of the journey we travel, the dejection of having to start again but the determination of doing it.

Beautiful Smitha. It does take a lot of courage to begin all over again. But that’s what the resilient souls do 👍
