My Garden

I had to write a metaphorical poem, based on a prompt I received. This is my take on it.

garden2

I sat in my garden

Resting my back

Against the trunk

Of an old oak tree

Gazing at all

All that lay before me –

Content and happy

Seeds that I had sowed

Some that had been bestowed

By wind

By water

By animal

By man

Man, like me

I watered every seed

I tended to their every need

And I watched them grow-

Some bore fruit

Some flowered

And some withered away

Before they saw the light of day

Of those that bore fruit,

some were bitter

And they hurt my tummy

Of those that flowered

Some had thorns

And they pricked me

When I went near

I couldn’t keep those

And those exotic ones

That demanded more

More than I could give

It broke my heart

To let them go

But I did

And now as the sun sets

I sit resting my back

Against the trunk

Of the old oak tree

Basking in the shade

of all around me –

content and happy

garden

It’s the truth. That’s life, isn’t it? Not all seeds we sow are right. We need to let go :). Thank you for reading it. Am glad you liked it.

Thanks Robbie. So glad you liked it. Oh wow…travelling again. Since you’re happy to be back, I presume its work that’s kept you away :). Well, I’m glad you’re back

I traveled for work but it doesn’t leave much time for blogging. I am glad to be back home and getting into my routines again.
