He, She

I tried writing a lipogram, for the very first time in my life. For all those who are unaware of what a lipogram is (don’t worry, I had no clue about it too, before day before yesterday!), I’ll explain it.

As per the dictionary a lipogram is

  1. a composition from which the writer systematically omits a certain letter or certain letters of the alphabet.

I wrote one using only the vowel ‘e’

The poem is titled She, He

She

sees red. He sees green. She

errs. He jeers. She

sneers.

He

speeds. She veers. He

meets her eyes. She greets. He

flees.

he she

When I started, I found it extremely restrictive but writing a poem with rules was fun. What do you think of the lipogram written? If you do give it a shot, do share it in the comments so I can read it too.

I think you did very well Smitha, I can imagine just finding the perfect word and then realising it had another vowel in it 🙂 I like the words in the poem and the way it’s written on the page follows the rhythm nicely.

Oh thank you! It was fun. I had no idea where it was going. The only thought was not to use any other vowel. I loved it when it shaped up. So glad the flow struck a chord with you too. Xxx
