Happy World Poetry Day – 21st March

Happy World Poetry Day to you who write poetry and to you who read it and to those appreciate it and to those who balk at it. Because-there’s some poetry in all of us.

In the way you knead dough, twist and turn
And watch it rise, then prick and poke
In the way you line your eyes with kohl
And pleat your sari – in and out, in and out and tuck
In the way you tie a knot on your silk tie
Your fingers hold and then over one, the other you fold

In the way you fingers tilt a glass of  wine
It sparkles, dances, tingles- the first sip
In the way your tone rises and lowers
Jingles, softens and melts into a kaleidoscope of colors when you care
In the way your lips curve upwards and lift your cheeks
Sweet memories – people, places jiving, waltzing in the winding lanes of your brain

In the way your heart beats, in the rhythm of your breath
Can you hear it- the poetry?
Listen…it’s there.

You are Poetry
The most beautiful kind

Happy Poetry Day to all of you!
