NaPoWriMo Day 23 – Serendipity

Today’s prompt (optional, as always) asks you to write a poem about a particular letter of the alphabet, or perhaps, the letters that form a short word. Doesn’t “S” look sneaky and snakelike? And “W” clearly doesn’t know where it’s going! Think about the shape of the letter(s), and use that as the take-off point for your poem. Need an example? Here is my down-and-dirty translation of Eduardo Galeano’s “The letters of the word AMOR”:

Mine for today. I found the exercise fun. There were so many words I wanted to do and then I finally selected my favorite word.

serendipity

S is a road, a winding path with curves

E is a crab’s paw that’s lost its edge

R is a ballerina, dancing to the music

E is a comb with fallen teeth

N is a slide. Up, down, up again; wonder where its going

D is a slingshot that pulls back to propel forward

I is alone, standing strong on its’ own

P is a ladle that stirs the pot; so it doesn’t spill over

I is a fortress, wise and brave

T is ‘I’ with the blessings of the universe over its’ head

Y is a funnel that filters the best.

Serendipity- some call it luck, some call it chance-

Serendipity is magic, a cosmic dance

Of the universe; in your favor

that says, ‘Don’t question, just sit back and savor.’

Thank you, Smitha, for sharing this delightful poem! I never thought of the shapes of letters in that way before. ❤

Glad you are able to get the bugs out of your blog. So annoying to deal with!
