Quote 8/20 : You’re no Wonder Woman and it’s O.K.

Note: If you’re a man and you’re reading this quote you’re probably doing one of two things- a) agreeing with it or b) disagreeing with it.

If you agree with it, then I have nothing to say except maybe you can make life easier for the woman in your life – mother, wife, daughter, cousin, aunt, girlfriend by pitching in and doing your bit.

If you disagree with it then it could be that you are doing your bit. In which case, I applaud you – ‘Great job! This post goes for you too.

To all the women out there, I hope you are doing well during the lockdown days and sharing the work load. Stay safe, stay home!

This is a great quote, Smitha. I agree that much more is expected of women in the current circumstances. We are employees, home executives, teachers and also psychologists.

  Thanks Robbie. I remember a week into the lockdown and most women I knew were getting things done like they were superwomen. Two weeks later, they were breaking down, tired and depressed. That’s when I wrote this and shared it with them – to say that it’s ok to falter. Like you said, we are so many things wrapped into one. There’s just so much our bodies will allow us to do and we need to respect that.

It is applicable to both Men and Women. Nobody is a super-human, and it’s foolish to expect anyone to be a Superman or Wonder Woman.

Breaks are always necessary. There is nothing to feel guilty about the same.
There should always be several break-times in a day, in a week, month and year. It is necessary for everyone, be it working women, home-makers, students, working men or anybody else for that matter. What one does in that amount of time is completely upto her/him.

  It’s really nice to know you agree and feel this way. I wish all men and women felt the same instead of trying to be ‘Superman’ or ‘Wonder woman’ and then either breaking down or hating the world🙂

    Of course, what you said is perfectly logical and makes sense.. 🙂 🙂
    Moreover, I don’t believe in assigning specific jobs to people based on their genders. Men and women both should share the household load, cooking and finances. But that would be off the topic right now.
    I believe most men and women will feel this way going forward. It will take time, but thoughts like these are slowly permeating into the minds of men and women alike.. 🙂
