Lockdown Diaries : Heaven – a place on earth

wp-15942576840031625304301004484754.jpg
I painted this based on a picture from Pinterest by Craftberry Bush.com. I call it ‘Steps to Paradise’

I can’t get enough –

I stand transfixed

I smell

sweet grass, soothing petrichor

I hear

monsoon breeze, the last rain drops fall

I gaze

amazed

yellow leaves – shape of hearts

united

on the damp earth.

The ‘flame of the forest’ –

a red carpet celebration

squirrels nibbling

black crow- a solitary guest

Yellow butterfly hovering

watching

like me

a wreath of lavender flowers

crowning unknown kingdoms

so tiny

you will not see

and I think-

this here must be it; heaven on earth

And I could live forever

here.

A lovely poem, Smitha. This foliage and forest reminds me of our forests in Knysna, South Africa. So dense and beautiful.

Thank you Robbie. I love dense foliage. S. Africa sounds like a beautiful place to visit. But it will have to wait now like everything else.
Looks like the lockdown is going to be extended even further. Its getting frustrating.
