I’m confused

Its all so fresh- your words, your voice

Wasn’t it only yesterday –

You spoke of your haircut,

Of your phone, of how you didn’t like either?

Wasn’t it only yesterday –

You spoke of your fear

Of the pain

That you wouldn’t make it through?

Yet we went ahead

Why?

Was it I who asked you to

Or was it you?

Was it the Doctors who coaxed you

or was it me?

It’s all so blurred now

I’m confused-

They’re not telling

And you’re not here

To ask

At this moment I am unable to articulate and post an appropriate comment. I know the feeling you expressed in the poem, one of anguish and confusion atf the departure of a loved one. I can only echo the words of Saul Bellow that you have posted. Maybe you can find solace in the words of Robert Frost ‘In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on’.
