Friday Flowers

It feels like a long time since I wrote a post and since I’m still a little dazed (happily so) after the holidays, I figured I’d kickstart my blog with pictures of flowers I took during my holiday. I should’ve taken many more photographs but I’d been far too busy doing other things like meeting old friends, shopping, dining and living. After one and a half years of staying locked indoors, I can’t be blamed for not giving flowers – which I love without doubt, my undivided attention.

Bangalore seemed greener this time as compared to my earlier visits. It could be the arrival of the monsoons (rains) which despite being much lesser as compared to the rains in Mumbai, had done their bit to clean the dust off trees, or it could be that Bangalore residents have been doing their bit to increase the green in the city -most societies take it upon themselves to plant new saplings and retain old trees.

The pictures below do not do justice to the ‘Garden city of India’ – Bangalore, but I’m sharing them anyway. They are a peek into a city that has the best of both worlds- the old and the new.

I’m not sure if these flowers have a name or they’re just wild flowers
White rain lily
Cape Leadwort
Water Lily

I end with this beautiful quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson-

This post is for https://ceenphotography.com/flower-of-the-day-fotd-challenge/ . The challenge is all about celebrating the flora around us.

Lovely flowers, Smitha. What you have called peace lilies are often featured at funerals here.

Oh really. I had no idea that were used at funerals. Bangalore is very colorful Robbie thanks to the trees and flowers. Despite the shortage in rainfall, plants grow very well there.

I know you love them, Robbie…I’ve seen pictures of your garden. You did such an amazing job with it during the lockdown.
