October poem: Thank you, God

Thank you, God, for the breeze that blows
that caresses my face and around me flows
For the carpet of flowers that fallen lies
And for the soft peaks of floating dreams in the skies

Thank you, God, for eyes that see
And let me in awe be
of each fluttering leaf and each bent bough, that in the garden grows,
And for these feathered angels that watch me walk- the pigeons and the crows.

Thank you, God, for ears that hear
The melody of the birdsong, distant and yet so clear
The cawing, the chirping
The tweeting and chattering.

Thank you, God, for this beating heart
And another start
And for the love I feel, in and around
It's in the air, free and unbound

Thank you for every breath that warms my bone
And the sun that rises, tells me I'm not alone
Thank you God for
All this and more

It's a bright, sunny, Sunday morning after two months of rain. As I stepped out today for a walk, a gentle breeze welcomed me- soft on my face and neck and I thought,'Thank you,God.'

This poem wrote itself out during the walk. I hope you enjoyed reading it. This is my mantra for October- 'To be grateful'. What's yours?

Have a wonderful Sunday!
Cheers

This is such a lovely and joyous poem, Smitha. Thank you for sharing it. We had rain this weekend for the first time since June. Such a relief.

Thank you so much Robbie. I’m so happy you liked it. Rains are such a respite from the heat. I can imagine how much you enjoyed the first rains. Its funny how much we love it in the beginning and then when it continues for longer than expected, we end up cribbing and wanting the sun back. 🙂

Made a confusing mistake: Quote 19: Spending time with yourself is the one with the glitch. It’s not loading. Look it over please.
Your words are always so lovely. I want to read them.

Yes, October is a month that sparks gratitude. For me, in the midst of a long recovery, I am thankful for every step I take with my miraculous new knee.

That’s so beautiful, Jo – to feel gratitude for everything and not take any of it for granted. I’m so happy to know you’re getting better and stronger by each passing day.
