I had done a painting of an apple which I called ‘The golden apple’ because of how it turned out, Art: two paintings- An urn and An Apple. My husband loved the painting and wanted to put it up in his office. However, the painting sold as soon as I shared it on social media. This was sometime in June. I didn’t dare to try painting another picture of an apple until last month when my husband travelled out of the city for four days. A) Because I thought the first one was a fluke and B) because I did not want him to see it when I was ‘attempting to paint it.
On November 4th, when my husband walked out of the door, I pulled out a blank A3 size cold pressed paper and drew the apple. The drawing is simple. It’s getting the translucent effect on the apple, so it appears to glow. That’s tough. At the end of day 1, I put the first coat of paint on the paper. On day 2, I started working on the apple, and by the end of the day, my daughter said that the apple looked rotten, and sadly, she was right. On day 3, I began again, hoping the paper did not tear because of the layers of paint and water. By the end of the 4th day, this was how the painting looked (see pic below). The choice of frame and mount is entirely my husband’s, and I think it perfectly complements the artwork.

Here’s a close-up of the painting

It’s different from the first painting I did, but everybody knows ‘no two apples are the same.’ The same goes for art. The good thing is now I know, the first one wasn’t a fluke and I can repeat it. What do you think of this painting?
