NaPoWriMo Day 18: This is how you do it

Today’s prompt is based on Faisal Mohyuddin’s poem “Five Answers to the Same Question.” Today, I’d like to challenge you to write your own poem that provides five answers to the same question – without ever specifically identifying the question that is being answered.

I
You say you love Him
How can there be love without trust?
And if you trust,
you should have no reason to fear.

II

You do your job
And let Him do his
That should make it easier.
              That's how you do it.

III

You say you do not waste your time
And yet you indulge in the most futile activity
What good can come of it?
Certainly not the solution to your woes.

IV

Accept and learn from it
It's not the end of the world
Remember, what doesn't break you, makes you.

V

Trust me, when I tell you
This too shall pass
Do not disregard my words
            As platitudes .

I thought at first this was relationship advice – which it works as too! What an interesting prompt and as always you have delivered on it.

Yes, I gathered that’s how it would be taken. I’m so glad you think it fulfilled the prompt. I meant it as an answer to managing stress. ‘Him’ being God.

This is an interesting one Smitha. Loved all of it.

It’s to the question, ‘How do I not be stressed?’ or ‘How should I stop worrying?’

I heard this advisory, ‘I told you so’ tone as I read this poem! I have an urge to ask you “where is 2?” but maybe its absence is part of the poem!

Thank you dear Namrata for pointing it out. I’ve added 2 now. 🙂
