NaPoWriMo Day 19 – Write back!

Today’s challenge is to write a poem that starts with a command. It could be as uncomplicated as “Look,” as plaintive as “Come back,” or as silly as “Don’t you even think about putting that hot sauce in your hair.” Whatever command you choose, I hope you have fun ordering your readers around.

My poem for the day, ‘Write back!

Write!

your thoughts and feeling
When you read my writing
It's a piece of my heart
I'm sharing, so, do your part, and make a start.

It's fine if you don't like what I have to say
You don't have to stay
Maybe,
One message, was all it was meant to be

But, imagine, if we were meant to meet
What a shame it would be if you didn't greet?
Who knows we may have been friends, neighbors, brothers, lovers

In a different life
and time.
This connection
in a world of seven billion

It's Kismet, reincarnation
or divine intervention.
How else can you explain
it? Let it not go in vain.

Who knows
what we'll learn,where it goes?
Let's take this opportunity to complete
what was left incomplete

You've got another chance to get it right *
Write back!

P.S. I absolutely enjoyed writing this poem. It’s something I believe in, that every connection we make across the distance, talking to people we may never meet, sharing our thoughts with them is nothing short of magical. It’s a mystery why and how we click with some people over words and nothing more and how others we spend our lives with, without ever connecting.

I do agree we come into each others’ lives for a reason, whether for a long or a short time. Blogging has given us the chance to do this across great distance, which is great!

It’s nice to know that you too feel the same. I’m amazed at the wonder of the net and how connected we all are now. If not for this, how would we have ever met. Thank you for reading my posts regularly Andrea, even when I slack. I value it very much.X

Never having met in person but just talking to you and finding a connection is Kismet I guess. How else can you explain it. It seems I have known you for a long time. Thanks for the connection. Your PS says it all. Very well expressed. Well continue to’Write’.

Yes…it is…across time, space and age. I feel the same. It’s special. 😊. Thank you for connecting and staying connected. It means a lot to me and I am very, very grateful for this connection. Thank you!

Hi Robbie, meeting you here and talking to you like this…over the years…finding a friend in you…that’s kismet🙂. Thank you for never failing to write back, even when I do. 💛

I am also glad we are friends, Smitha. I love reading your poetry and learning about your life and the places you visit.

Cheers to a friendship that’s lasted over the years and across the seas, Robbie. One day, maybe we’ll meet. Who knows. But, until then, I’m grateful for this.

Loved this one. I always believe in the soul group concept. We meet people for a reason right? We learn something or the other through the meetings.

Thank you dear Vineetha. I was waiting for you to read it. Thank you for recommending the book to me. XXX

I love the ‘teacher’ tone of the first ‘command’–Write. I was hooked with the first word Smitha. And your exploration of the self, relationships, possibilities and love flows like a river after that–a strong current that leaves me refreshed and reflective.

So says a teacher :). Thanks so much Arti for such a lovely comment – one that every writer wants to hear. It’s very kind of you and I’m thrilled to know that the poem left you feeling ‘refreshed and reflective’. Thank you!

Everyone and everything we encounter has the potential to change us. If it’s a positive encounter–and if we are open to it–you never know, we might just luck out.💜🍃

I’m pleased to know you feel the same, Romana. You described it perfectly- ‘you never know, we might just luck out’. Thank you for reading and writing back :)💛

Lovely and the concept of reincarnation is so true, Smitha. We all have to reincarnate in our lives that is why we meet people who we have never met maybe at some place in the future.

Thank you so much dear Kamal. I have learnt so much from you- through your posts. I value this connection very much. X

Oh yes, hurrah for all the connections that living in the internet (c)age affords us. I say “cage” because for me it’s more or less all there is since I moved to Italy. My only real-life friend in Italy moved to Iraq. My two guys don’t speak much, especially since one of them is a dog. We are blessed to be able to connect with people from around the world in this way. Sending you love and light, always. And yes, I know that I don’t comment under every of the poems that I read but I’m an introvert. 😀

    1. Smitha V Avatar

Yes!!! How else would a girl in Italy speak to a girl in Mumbai 🙂 Why would they share their stories with each other and share a good word and make each other smile. I’m grateful to have met you here, Manja. Love and light to to you too. Lol! I’m an introvert too…and I should be saying this because I tend not to comment. Big hug to you.

Every encounter (even through the air waves like the internet) IS a holy encounter. I value it that way. I value you. Thanks for writing this. I bless you. Keep going. May the force continue to be with you. 👏

    1. Smitha V Avatar

So true, Selma and I’m glad we met. There’s so much I have learned from your posts. And your warm words and generosity mean a lot to me. May the Force be with you too and as you say, I wish you miracles too! XXX

Writing back! I like the clever twist. Specially,
But, imagine, if we were meant to meet
What a shame it would be if you didn’t greet?

    1. Smitha V Avatar

Thank you 🙂 Sonia. And, only because you wrote to me, we’re here talking. Thank you for taking the first step to connect. X

I agree whole-heartedly with the opening stanza! That’s why we are here. I also like to imagine meeting some of the poets I discover here.

Thank you dear Kim for reading the post and writing back. Glad to have connected with you through NaPoWriMO. The connections we make here are a wonder.
I hope your tests went well.

This reminded me of a lot of our conversations! We’ve often wondered about the serendipity of our meeting. This made me nostalgic about the hours we have spent talking while working on our book. We surely need to connect.
I’m taking this as my cue:
“Let’s take this opportunity to complete
    what was left incomplete”
    Lots of love

    1. Smitha V Avatar

🙂 Yes! Vands, I’ve always believed in it and still do. People cross our paths for a reason. It’s not necessary that everybody stays but if the memory can bring back a smile, then that’s a relation to be grateful for.
Thank you for letting me know that the memory of our conversations still warms your heart. Wishing you love and light. XXX
