TankaTuesday : Poetry Challenge No. 276 – Journey

I’m linking this post to Colleen’s #TankaTuesday Weekly #Poetry Challenge No. 276, 5/31/22, #ShareYourDay . It’s my first time participating in it. I’ve long wanted to but, somehow, I hadn’t been able to. This week’s prompt is to share your day in syllabic poetry alongwith a picture.

I took the below photograph of the lady, from the car as we sped past on the highway on our way to a temple, last Sunday. While we did manage to reach the temple, I couldn’t go in as I did not feel too well. It was a shame after the 4-hour long car journey and especially, since I had been waiting to visit the place for the last 2 months- it’s supposed to be an important place of pilgrimage for Hindus and I got to know of it only when I wrote a post on the all-girls trip I took in March. But, I’ll write about that some other time.
Anyway, the first thing I did after returning is to book an appointment with the doctor. So, my week went in two visits to the doctor, a blood test and a sonography. I have my next appointment on Tuesday evening. Only then I’ll get to know what’s wrong.

Anyway, my haiku on the picture is written below. I hope I’ve met the requirements.

A lady sits on the roadside selling blueberries in leaf cones

Summer’s blazing sun
Parches all it shines upon
Blueberries glisten

I’m happy that you have started exploring Haiku. Nice one, it’s a powerful medium of expression. Here the lady glistening in her sweat and the glistening blueberries.

Smitha, this is a lovely haiku! I love how you captured the photo of the woman, too. I did not know that blueberries grew in India. They are one of my favorite berries. Glad you’re here. <3

Thank you so much,Colleen. So glad you liked it. I found the other forms a little confusing. The haiku seemed the easiest to try. Blueberries, strawberries grow in plenty around where we stay. I love them too…actually,I love fruits in general 🙂.
I’m so glad I’m here too. Thank you again for your very clear explanation of the forms❤️
