Yayy! I’m happy to be taking part in Thursday Doors again, after what seems like ages. The thing is, it isn’t easy to take pictures of apartment doors in Mumbai – I don’t want to be answering questions on why and what I am doing. So, I only manage to participate in ‘Thursday Doors’ every time I travel.
Dan is the wonderful host of Thursday Doors and he says, ‘Welcome to Thursday Doors, a weekly feature allowing door lovers to come together to admire and share their favourite door photos from around the world. ‘
I managed to collect enough door photographs during my recent trip to Fort Kochi and Willingdon island in Kerala to last me a month of Thursday doors that is if I do not share it all in one post.
So, here is the first set of photographs I took during the four-day trip to the islands.
The Santa Cruz Basilica is one of the nine Basilica in Kerala. It was originally built by the Portuguese and elevated to a Cathedral in 1558. The British demolished the building and commissioned a new building in 1887. It was proclaimed Basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1984.
The above door is ordinary-looking but I found the extensive artwork around the door intriguing. The detailed work around this door stood out against the brick walls.
I’m ending this post with one more door to add a touch of green to this post – as a reminder to be mindful of the environment. Here is a door flanked by potted plants and creepers on either side like guards. In a place like Kerala, where you probably just have to throw a seed for a plant to sprout, getting this look must come easy.
