Thankful Thursday – Infinitely grateful

I chanced upon this blog hop, Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian, today and I just had to participate.
I’m thankful that I got a clean chit from the doctor today. After two months of a health scare, blood tests, an ultrasound, a minor surgery and a hysteroscopy, the doctor took less than thirty seconds to read the pathology report and tell me I was fine. I feel grateful for a second chance, for the learnings over these two months- I went from fear of the future to strength- I told myself that whatever came out of it, I would deal with it because I had no choice in the matter. I hope I’ve become a little braver now- I’ve decided to do an executive health check-up which has been long overdue ( as long as a decade!).
I’m grateful to God for wellwishers- many of whom I have neither seen nor spoken to other than through the written word. I’m infinitely grateful for their concern, their prayers and blessings. In a world where people barely have time for each other, and no person is free of concern, to have people who care enough to check on you is a rare treasure. Through these two months, I have been fortunate to have people make the time to ask me how I was doing- it made me feel stronger and blessed. I’m not naming those who checked on me. They know who they are and I know they’ll read this post.

I am grateful for the wake-up call- it brought me closer to God and value all that is truly important in life- doing what you love, spending time with those you love- it helped me filter the chaff from the grain.

I’m also linking this post to Eugi’s weekly prompt– Astounding, based on the below picture prompt. I saw this picture and just had to write. My poem is given below.

Photo prompt by Eugi
Withered, I stood in a field of blossoms
Amazed by the pinkness.
Dark clouds loomed overhead
The delicate blooms faced them bravely
Ready
to take them on- thunder, lightening, storm
they would not look down
I watched astounded by their tender courage
the clouds parted
and a ray of grace
circled the flowers,
and me with it
like a halo
and I was healed.

HI Smitha, I am so happy to read this good news about your health. It is dreadful to have a cloud of worry and doubt hanging over you. I hope you are up and about now. I saw the painting of the sailing boats on Instagram today and I think it’s beautiful and full of happiness. Hugs. PS the poem is also incredibly beautiful.

Hi Robbie, you’re right. It’s such a huge relief. Thank you for sticking with me. Knowing I had people who cared helped. I was up and about on the day I got the news but have caught the fly ( probably did a little too much).
Thanks Robbie for your appreciation of the painting. I did another one prior to that and disliked it because I hadn’t learnt anything from the exercise. I just had to another one quick that made me feel better. The boats came to my rescue.
And about the poem, it was written the day before the report. I guess the waiting taught me that there’s no point in waiting and wasting time.
Much love to you my dear friend.

Eugi’s picture spoke to me as soon as I saw it and I knew I had to write. I’m very glad you liked the poem, Lynn. Thank you for your kind concern, good thoughts and sharing your grandma’s advice with me. It helped me when I felt low.
It’s nice that you are planning to join in too. I’m planning to continue it because just acknowledging it creates so much positivity within. Wishing you love and light XXX

Jo, I thought of your words the moment I stepped out of the doctor’s room- that you were praying. Knowing that there were people praying for me, not because they were family, was a wonderful feeling. Thank you so much. XOXO
