A mild cold wave swept over Dhaka on January 3rd. The temperature fell to 11 degrees C. We couldn’t see the sun for a week. Apparently, this is the coldest it has ever been here…yet another sign of climate change or global warming. The picture was taken at 7.00 a.m. on the 8th of January from my balcony.
A grey world From my window, I see a smoke screen That's keeping the rays of the sun at bay No longer can I tell the sky from the lake; It's cold here; it's the coldest it's ever been. All I see is a shroud of grey I no longer know night from day Or what reflection could possibly mean The water in the lake has lost its sheen The earth's cloaked in a misty guise It's beauty safeguarded from my eyes For what I can not see, I will not want And what I do not want, I shall not plunder I sit here, my eyes downcast, frozen in time, like a sculture grieving my past actions that turned the world into this grey haunt
