Published: Another night, another fight

It wouldn’t be right to live in Dhaka and not write about mosquitoes. Come winter, come December, and they flow in droves. And not that I’m belittling the Indian mosquitoes, but the ones in Dhaka, are definitely hardier, more brilliant and more innovative than their Indian counterparts. They are ice-breakers- the subject of conversations – the ones you can resort to when you have nothing else to say and be sure to expect an enthusiastic response each time. Here’s an ode to our early battles in Dhaka against these minuscule creatures that demand attention.
I had written two poems on them. One of them got selected for publication and has now been published. Here’s the poem.

I had written two poems on them. One of them got selected for publication and has now been published by Masticadores, USA.

Another Night, Another Fight

After four days of sleepless nights
Of waiting with weapons
In our hands, ready to strike
Last night was a win.

Lol…it did, and we are doing all of it every day. It’s going to be like this for another month or so.
