Tanka Tuesday : 130525 – poetry challenge no 12- Hainka, Thursday Doors 150525 and a birthday!

I’ve been missing in action for the last few weeks and as much as I wanted to participate in the Tanka Tuesday challenge, I couldn’t. In case you’re interested in knowing the reason, it’s because I moved countries. To read more about it, you can check this post.

This week, Melissa is the host of Tanka Tuesday and the prompt is to write a hainka. A hainka is a haiku and a tanka. You can read more about the rules here.

Coolness in the air
Calms frazzled nerves, anxious heart
In an unknown land.

Green carpet around
Eyes search for the familiar
Coolness in the air
Sunbeam filters through the clouds
Wide smiles greet strangers warmly.

I don’t know if I got it right. You can read Melissa’s beautiful examples in the link above.

Now for some doors for the Thursday Doors challenge hosted by Dan Anton. It feels like a long time since I participated in it. And this time, it wasn’t because I had no pictures of doors. On the contrary, I have plenty because of my recent travel to Malaysia, but I haven’t had the chance to share them as we moved countries and continents.

It was my younger daughter’s birthday on the 17th of May. We couldn’t be with her on the day but before we moved further away from her, we made sure to meet her during the spring break. I’m so grateful it all panned out as planned.
She sent me two pictures of doors that she took when she went out for lunch with her friend, on her special day, and made this mother happy with her thoughtfulness.

And here’s a picture of a door to a cafe’ we visited in Nairobi.

And this is a gate of sorts. It caught my attention because of the electric blue sky beyond.

At the Village Market, Nairobi

And below is a picture of windows. I took it from the balcony of our hotel room in Kenya.

That’s all from my side. I haven’t been reading your blogs because I have been trying to catch up with reading books of blogger and Facebook friends, who seem to be producing books at the drop of a hat; I’m finding it hard to keep up. I promise to catch up soon.
