I created this website 4 years ago but never actually used it because I had no clue as to how and where to begin. Well, if you think I’ve learnt a trick or two over these 4 years, you’re wrong- I haven’t! But I’ve realized the rules of writing are not that strict anymore like it used to be in the eighties and nineties. You don’t have to write in Shakespearean style or Elizabethan style or the way your English Teacher in school expected, with conjunctions, clauses, metaphors, similes, etc… As long as people can relate to what you are writing, you can write.
I started keeping a diary at the age of eight and have continued the habit since then but it was my own little world. It was my mom who wished I could write in a public space but I believed I wasn’t skilled enough to do that. So, this blog is for her…my mom, who passed away 10 years ago…
This blog is for my husband, who published my poem in a newspaper when we were dating, 19 years ago, in 1997…never got to know if the poem was published because it was good or because he used his sources to get a brownie point :).
So, as a start, over the last month, I wrote about my travels on Facebook and shared it with my friends. Everyday, I would check on the likes and comments. Based on all the wonderful, kind words from friends and family, I finally decided to give “blogging” a shot.
Welcome to my blog and I hope you enjoy reading “Silver Linings” as much as I enjoy writing it. Ever since I started this blog, I realize that this is what I love doing…penning down my thoughts, feelings and ideas.
“Silver Linings” is my take on life, based on things I have done, people I have met, places I have been to…Do share your ideas with me and let me know if you can relate to it.
Cheers,
Smitha V
