Shimmer & Shine… A Tanka Poem

via Daily Prompt: Shimmer

Wrote a Tanka  on today’s prompt based on a street in Dubai. The pretty white lights adorning the trees are mesmerizing. There’s something magical and romantic about walking at night on a street lined with trees decorated so prettily.

A Tanka is a Japanese poem with 31 syllables written in 5 lines. Each line should have syllables in the 5-7-5-7-7 format.

Against the dark black,

Hundred fairy lights shimmer,

Palms lining the side-walk decked,

As brides in veils, glittering,

Diamonds in the night, sparkle.
