Just Want To Be Me

Another one from the good, old, past. But one that’s as important today as it was yesterday. Just Be You and Be Happy. Life’s precious, live it ! Be free of stifling bonds!

Eúnoia

via Daily Prompt: Pretend

This poem is for people in stifling relations, for people bound by love and for people who are trying so hard to live upto somebody else’s expectations…parents pushing children, children trying so hard to be somebody their not…for husbands, wives, friends.  Live and Let Live

I can’t pretend anymore,

To be the person you want me to (be),

I can’t pretend anymore,

To do the things you want me to (do).

I  just want to be me,

Not who  you want me to be,

I just want to be me,

Not who you want the world to see.

I can’t pretend anymore,

Like we were meant to be,

I can’t pretend anymore,

Like you and I are ‘WE’.

I just want to be me,

To carve my  destiny,

I just want to be me,

To etch my  identity.

I can’t pretend anymore,

I just want to be me!

Very profound! Speaking up for yourself is not easy but one should not give up and fight to follow the path. Wonderful!

Thank you! Yes, it’s difficult because of societal pressure or because one feels bound in a relationship. But the truth, is one can never be happy that way. Thank you again for following the blog ☺

It is my pleasure. Living a restricted life will never be a happy life.

I am happy it felt that way. Most people are so busy trying to be like others and they end up feeling trapped but are unable to break free. It’s sad. Thank you Robbie for sharing it on twitter.

Yes its extremely important…because pretense cannot remain for long and is really difficult to maintain. I am glad you liked the poem. Thank you.

    Hello Smitha,

wow, just beautiful, and so true.It is funny how all big secrets and truths are very simple. We need a lot of courage for that, and a lot of effort, but it’s really worth it. Thank you

Hi Ben. Very true…life is simple. We complicate it unnecessarily and then complain. Btw your posts are extremely uplifting. Wanted to comment but did not find a comment box.

Thank you Manasi for the appreciation. It’s indeed sad that as painful as it is, people do live in these kind of relations and are too afraid to get out. Thank you again for sharing your opinion:)
