The moment you walk out of the door,
And on my own I must tread,
I safely put you away, while I do my chore,
In a little corner, at the back of my head…
This head, you say is always buzzing,
So You, I’ve kept in a quiet place,
A place I don’t go often; for I mustn’t be misusing,
Not the time to go week, I must run this race…
On my toes, I juggle around,
Doing your part and my bit too,
And then at night, when all is wrapped and wound,
I scribble the things I’d say to you…
Days crawl into weeks,
I smile, I laugh, I live,
My heart for You, no longer seeks,
I love you so, I’ve learnt to give…
Finally, this day is here,
The mask I wear, I need no longer,
I’m no Superwoman, devoid of fear,
I need you so, I can’t be stronger…
My heart rejoices, you’ll soon be here,
Minutes crawl like hours, a long, long day,
My body aches, I fight back a tear…
So many feelings, kept at bay,
Now I’m happy, now I’m sad,
My heart is sinking, I cannot smile,
‘He’ll be gone again”, says my stupid head,
“Stop it!”, I say, don’t want to think, not now, not for a while…
And when I do remember, that you’ll be gone again,
I’ll admonish myself, I’ll be a little stern,
“Live this moment or it will be in vain”,
“Make the most, until his next return…”
