Quote 5/2019 : Expectations

Image-3386791.png

Ever felt like this or ever made someone else feel like this? If yes, then it’s time to stop! STOP anybody who is making you feel this way and STOP if you are doing it to anybody else.

The irony is, those who expect are most often those who are closest to us and whom we love unquestioningly. Though a lot of you may disagree with me, the premise to a healthy, long-lasting relationship is one where there is ‘give and take,’ from both parties.

A relationship is bound to end, if the giving is one-sided. Don’t give me the  ‘mother-child,’ example. Even in this all-sacrificing relationship, a child needs to give. Every mother expects  at-least respect, in return for all that she does. once the child is able to comprehend.  That’s not asking for too much, is it?

Would love to hear from you if you’ve ever felt like you were being taken for granted or if you’ve unconsciously taken someone else for granted and it caused the relationship to break or you fixed it before it did.

Respect and trust are the foundation of any relationship. If that’s not there, then I’d say it’s better to walk away from the relation. If its there, then yes like you said ” expectation should be eradicated”😊

doubt we can eliminate it completely but it should be minimised, made more realistic and supportive 😎

I definitely agree with give an take and yes there have been times when either me or another person has had unrealistic expectations – though I have to say I’m probably hardest on myself 🙂

Interesting post, Smitha. I wrote a post about this very thing on Sunday. I agree that children should respect their parents and should also should demonstrate self discipline. Modern children can be a bit lacking and it is our duty as their parents to teach them these things.
