A call away

There are people you want to talk to

Whose call you wait for

Your finger hovers over their number

and you think

‘Is this a good time?’

And then you say, ‘Probably not.’

Your fingers scroll down hoping by some miracle

or the power of your mind

they call.

There are others on the same list

The ones you move past

Waiting for you to call

But you don’t-

You think

‘Not today’

And then you say,

‘Maybe next time.’

Only that sometime

before next time

you get a call telling you the person’s gone

And you say, “I’m sorry for your loss.”

And you think ‘I meant to call

earlier.’

I am sure that most of us send a text because we are concerned that it’s not right time to call. Maybe we should just not answer if it is an inconvenient time?

If we send a text to show we are concerned its fine but putting it off for a better time is not. At-least the other person will know we reached out. Its better than regretting it later don’t you think?
