Our (optional) prompt for the day is to write a poem in the form of a “to-do list.” The fun of this prompt is to make it the “to-do list” of an unusual person or character. For example, what’s on the Tooth Fairy’s to-do list? Or on the to-do list of Genghis Khan? Of a housefly? Your list can be a mix of extremely boring things and wild things. For example, maybe Santa Claus needs to order his elves to make 7 million animatronic Baby Yoda dolls, to have his hat dry-cleaned to get off all the soot it picked up last December, and to get his head electrician to change out the sparkplugs on Rudolph’s nose.

I could go several ways with this prompt but I chose to do something that came easy though not unusual; ‘coz its the weekend and I have a lot on my to-do list with two teens in the house and a complete lockdown in the city!
My poem for today – To-do list of a teen girl
I’ll wake up late
much after eight
have a snack to fill my belly
and watch the telly!
I’ll take a breather after that and sit
and scroll around for a bit
There’s no point in wasting precious time
When one has so much to learn online!
Then there’s the cloth pile
that’s towering on my bed
and my nails that I need to file
and paint them a cherry-red!
2.00 p.m.! I’ll head for a shower
I’ll make it quick and be out in an hour!
Gosh! I have to shave tomorrow; if not today
Ah! Never mind! Its lockdown anyway!
I’ll have my lunch at three
and be done by three-thirty
Then I’ll take a nap
For a girl’s got to rest after a week of crap!
I’ll spend the evening
after I wake up at five or six
on the couch, snacking and watching
Netflix!
Oh boy! All this planning
has got me all wired
I need to do some texting
so, I don’t feel so terribly tired!
