I wrote this ABECDEarian poem in April as part of the NaPoWriMo challenge based on a prompt given by TSL, a Facebook group.
All that we wished for
Big or small
Clouds of fantasy we floated upon
Dreams we saw
Eyes opened wide and shut tight-
From dancing on the square at the Eiffle tower to
Guzzling down flutes of sparkling wine, in Chianti
Haggling in the flea markets of Bali to
Idling on white-sand beaches in Turkey
Journeying to the lost city of Pompeii to
Kayaking in the Gulf of Tonkin, in the South China Sea
Losing our way in the Black Forests of Germany to
Mud bathing in the salty Dead Sea
Napping in Sorrento under the warm Italian sun
On hammocks tied to orange trees to
Plucking tea leaves in the estates of Nuwariliya
Quenching our thirst at the foot of Mt. Vesuvius to
Roasting lamb in the deserts of Jordan
Singing along as the gondolier rowed us
Through the canals of Venice
Under the deep blue sky and a million stars to
Viewing the Berlin wall after its fall.
We did it all, all that we dreamed of, and we still have more
Xany they called us at first-
You and me, then after a while
Zipped their mouths; for all, we were and are, is dreamers.

Have a wonderful weekend! Dream on…
