I have no pictures of exotic doors this week to share as I haven’t travelled and I’m uncomfortable with clicking pictures of doors in my vicinity. What I have, are left overs of recent trips I took. So, this week in addition to these pictures, I’m sharing the latest painting I did of a worn-out door with a lock, inspired by my visit to Fort Kochi and Wellingdon Island in Kerala which had a number of abandoned homes and weathered doors. You can read more about my visit here.
First, the left overs
And, now the painting
It’s an inspired watercolour that I named, ‘Forgotten’. If you think of a better name for the painting, do share it in the comments.
Based on the above painting, I’ve written the below poem for Colleen’s Tanka Tuesday. This week’s prompt was to write a a form of poetry suggested by Gwen Plano – it requires writing 11 lines of 4 syllables each, first and last line have to be the same. I hope I got it right. Here’s the poem.
The time has come
The time has come, to leave behind The home we built, the friends we made And fly eastwards To a new land. We must be brave, We must believe It is God's plan, We have to move The time has come
Some of my earlier artwork of doors
Before I end, here’s a inspirational quote on moving forward, opening new doors.
I hope you enjoyed the post. Wishing all of you a very happy weekend!
Cheers,
Smitha
