Today, challenge is to write a poem that stretches your comfort zone with line breaks. That could be a poem with very long lines, or very short lines. Or a poem that blends the two. You might break to emphasize (or de-emphasize) sounds or rhymes, or to create a moment of hesitation in the middle of a thought. The craft resource for today, consists of Alberto Ríos’s thoughts on the poetic line.
Well, here’s mine for today…
I worry about you "That isn't new!" You're young. Its a mistake. I wish you knew I worry about you. "Don't!" There was nothing more to say My love, an obstacle, in her way I watched her...hoped she'd understand some day. "I worry about you" The words ring Haunting; said not too long ago Some twenty odd years or so... "I worry about you," said with concern Stop! I had replied then, vain or naive, unable to discern "You'll understand one day," "Some day... when I've gone away." My mother had said tenderly.
