ThURSDAY DOORS

Since the ‘Thursday Doors’ Feature was started, I’ve been hunting down doors to share. When I am completely out of stock, I will have to resort to borrowing from my sister.

Since it’s that time of the year, when Hindus celebrate Diwali – the festival of lights, this week I’ve decided to share pictures of our door – decorated for the festival.

Doors play a significant role during Diwali. The entrance door is decorated and beautified with oil lamps, lights and flowers welcoming those who visit. This year , the festival falls on the 14th of November. We will not be celebrating it this year, as we lost two people in the family last month. The photographs are from my treasure trove of memories.

Below is a photograph of our door as it was decorated in 2017 for the festival.

This was the door decorated last year for Diwali. Incidentally it fell on October 28th that is today 🙂

I’d like to leave you with the below ‘door’ quote shared by a school friend of mine yesterday.

Stay safe, be happy and remember to close doors that no longer lead somewhere.

Thanks for the quote, and I loved those Diwali decorated doors. Even we will miss celebrating Diwali this year. Hopefully, things change soon.

I learned something new about Diwali, Smitha, I didn’t know about decorating doors. That is a lovely idea and I enjoyed your pictures.

I’m glad I shared it then. The whole idea is that you never know if God comes visiting in the form of someone so you ensure your entrance is beautifully decorated for Him. Thanks Robbie. Its fun how these door posts turn out. So much more than doors😀
