The years gone by,
I reminisce blissful, with a sigh-
Every stage a new beginning, unprecedented, unfamiliar,
Grit and fortitude denounced trepidation and fear
Hurdles crossed, failures met, fingers burnt,
I toiled and toiled. I did not rest; I watched, I learnt,
And Success- Oh! She came; sweet and sure
Wrapped me up, snug and secure
She and I, we grew fond of each other,
Seemed the perfect ending, this life we made together.
But the road ahead had a bend
The journey I loved came to an end
New beginnings now stared me in the eye
My heart with dread filled, held me captive; I will not lie
I stood at cross-roads, on the brink –
Of what was and what may be; I saw her wink.
She walked away. She doesn’t tread a course unknown.
On the untraversed path I must now forge alone.
She will return one day. I know she will.
I’ve wooed her before. I know the drill.
